Year 11 Head Prefect
I took an approach from the movie “Yes Man” where I tried to say yes to every opportunity that was provided to me, this gave me the chance to have many great experiences and do things like the public speaking competition and the Cranmer Awards which I would have otherwise turned a blind eye to.
My name is Phin, I am in year 11 and I am the Head Prefect for Curriculum this year. I play piano and I like sports. I am interested in politics. I have two brothers and one sister, and I am the eldest of them all.
I would not say I have a favorite lesson, but my least favorite is definitely English (mostly because I am bad at it). I chose CIDA (ICT), History and Triple Science for my options because I like working with computers and I think Science is very useful and interesting. I very much enjoy PE because I like sports and I especially like trying out new sports that I have not played before. The corridor displays give a great insight into the activities and competitions that we do at the academy and if you have any extra time, it is always a good idea to look at them in detail because there might be something extra on those walls that you might be captivated by.
I wanted to become a prefect because of the role models that I had in my earlier school career, and I think that a goal like becoming a prefect it the perfect motivator to push you to do that little bit extra, to push yourself out of your comfort zone and maybe do something that you might not have had the opportunity to do otherwise. I found that a goal at the end of my school career pushed me to be aspiration and helped me to be the best that I could be in preparation for that goal.
I was involved in a myriad of student leadership. I took an approach from the movie “Yes Man” where I tried to say yes to every opportunity that was provided to me, this gave me the chance to have many great experiences and do things like the public speaking competition and the Cranmer Awards which I would have otherwise turned a blind eye to.
Being a prefect can help you to ground yourself by making you think twice before doing something that could damage an otherwise exemplary report card. Also, the responsibility that being a prefect puts on your shoulders can prepare you for life outside of school where you should always be looking for ways that you can improve and grow as a person. Moreover, the pride that comes with a prefect tie is a priceless feeling that can lead you on to other achievements. For example, I learned by becoming a prefect that through hard work and the right mindset I can achieve anything and I am trying to use that principle to help myself achieve the best grades possible.
The best thing that you can do in your time at All Saints is to put yourself in situations that you would not otherwise put yourself into, to talk to different people and do different things. I found that you cannot know who you want to be before you know what all the options are, so you should not restrict yourself because the only thing that can come out of holding yourself back is regret.
