Year 11/Senior House Prefect (Helena House)
All of this has helped me develop as a person in many ways such as confidence, leadership and teamwork.
My name is Harriet, and I am in year 11 at All Saints Academy. I am the Head Prefect for Saint Helena House. Outside of school I attend weekly trumpet lessons and I am also a part of a jazz collective to strengthen my ability. I also enjoy reading and one of my favourite books is “The Fault in Our Stars” by John Green. I also enjoy the annotation side of English Literature as it helps me to see further into the storyline and the ways in which the writers perceived each aspect whilst writing it. Two of my other favourite lessons are Music and History, as Music allows me to express my creativity and History allows me to learn about things that have affected the world in the past, different interesting events and how the country was run in different eras.
I think that the environment at All Saints Academy is a very reassuring one. The teachers and other members of staff are very supportive of every student and help us be the best that we can be. The classroom and corridor displays are helpful and are kept up to date. The corridor displays offer advice for those struggling mentally, which is motivational to those who need it. The classroom displays are relevant to the content that you learn in that lesson, meaning if you forget something, such as a key date in history, you can look around the classroom walls for quick and easy assistance.
I applied to become a prefect as I have aspired to be one since starting secondary school in 2017. Whilst in the role of prefect, I want to show my support for other students and be somebody to talk to if they would like to speak to a peer as opposed to a teacher. Over the last academic year alone, I have volunteered at Thornaby Food Bank, been a TELL Leader, an English Leader, written articles for the school newsletter and been a part of Eco Schools. All of this has helped me develop as a person in many ways such as confidence, leadership and teamwork.
