Collective Worship

Cw1At All Saints, collective worship is central to who we are as a Church school. It is more than a daily gathering; it is a shared, reflective space where students and adults pause, consider what truly matters, and are invited to grow spiritually within a caring and inclusive community. Our worship reflects our Christian vision and values, while respecting and welcoming the diversity of belief, background and experience within our school family.

As I have loved you, so you must love each other. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples
John 13:34-35

What Collective Worship Means at All Saints

Collective worship at All Saints is shaped by the traditions of the Church of England and underpinned by our Christian vision. It is carefully planned to be:

  • Inclusive – everyone is welcome. Worship recognises that students and adults are at different points on their spiritual journey and creates space for all to engage meaningfully.
  • Invitational – students and adults are invited, never compelled, to pray or participate. Time for stillness and reflection allows individuals to respond in their own way.
  • Inspirational – worship encourages deep thinking about life, faith, values and the world around us, helping our community to live well together.

Cw2Our Worship Rhythm

All Saints has a planned and varied programme of collective worship across the week, ensuring that students experience worship in different settings and forms. Worship may take place in the school hall, classrooms, or in church, and includes opportunities for stillness, reflection, prayer, music and celebration. Across a typical week, students experience:

  • Whole-school collective worship
  • Class-based worship and reflection
  • Daily moments of prayer and reflection within form or tutor time

Special Worship Moments

Across the school year, the All Saints community gathers to celebrate and reflect through a rich variety of special acts of collective worship, including:

  • Monthly Holy Communion held within our worship spaces
  • Christingle and Advent reflections, supporting students to explore the meaning of preparation and hope
  • Seasonal celebrations such as Easter and the Christmas Carol Service

Cw3More Than an Assembly

Collective worship at All Saints extends well beyond scheduled times, shaping daily school life and relationships:

  • Faith and reflection groups (Cornerstone) provide safe spaces for students to ask questions, explore beliefs, and discuss life’s big issues openly and respectfully
  • Music plays a central role in worship, with student involvement enriching services through song and shared leadership
  • Student‑led collective worship and assemblies empower students to speak authentically from their own experience and faith journeys

A Worship Experience That Matters

Acts of collective worship at All Saints are carefully planned and thoughtfully led:

  • Worship follows clear weekly themes that support spiritual growth and understanding
  • Bible passages, prayer, personal reflection, and creative elements are used to engage and inspire
  • Staff draw on trusted resources and work alongside students to shape worship that is meaningful, inclusive, and relevant

Through collective worship, students are offered:

  • A framework for reflecting on life’s deeper questions
  • A strong sense of belonging within a caring and supportive community
  • Opportunities to celebrate what matters most: faith, character, service, and purpose

Collective worship at All Saints helps foster a culture of stillness, respect, and reflection. It supports spiritual flourishing while also strengthening character and community life. At All Saints, worship is about shared identity, thoughtful reflection, and living out Christian values together. It is carefully planned, deeply inclusive, and genuinely lived. Every student is invited into this rhythm of prayer and thought, scripture and story, stillness and song.
