Year 11/Senior House Prefect (Oswald House)
I have really enjoyed studying History at All Saints as the teachers make the lessons really fun and the topics we cover are really interesting.
My name is Sophie, I am in year 11 and I am the Head Prefect for St Oswald House. When I am not in school I enjoy many activities, including teaching children to swim at Thornaby Swimming Club, playing for Acklam Rugby Club’s girls team, reading retellings of Greek mythology tales and I enjoy creating art projects at home. But my favourite thing to do is watch Marvel films, as I am obsessed with the Marvel Cinematic Universe and the intricate plots and character arcs in each film.
I have really enjoyed studying History at All Saints as the teachers make the lessons really fun and the topics we cover are really interesting. My favourite topic has been Crime and Punishment in England as I love learning about the trials and punishment methods used. I also enjoy studying art as it allows me to make and do things that I love and you get to work very independently. The most recent project I have made is a life size model of Stitch from the Disney film “Lilo and Stitch” which is probably one of the favourite things that I have made, but I am excited to finish off my other projects, such as my Mexican Day of the Dead fabric piece.
I wanted to be a prefect because since year 7 I have always admired the prefects and looked up to them, they always seemed to have loads of fun doing their jobs and hopefully I will have a similar experience. I am hoping that by being a prefect it will open up a lot of opportunities for me and that I will get the chance to do activities with my peers. As Head Prefect for Oswald I try my hardest to incorporate the house values into my school life, creativity, integrity, courage, as well as the rest of the school values (independence, aspirational, resilient, collaborative, reflection).
I have taken part in lots of leadership activities during my time at All Saints, for example I have been a Sports Captain, and Sports Leader and have helped out on sporting events both in school and out, I was also an Art Leader and an English Leader last year, which involved helping out with jobs that needed doing in the departments. I took part in all of these leadership opportunities as they looked really fun and seemed like a great chance to meet new people.
