Food & Nutrition

Food Preparation and Nutrition sets out to build upon the knowledge, understanding and skills required to cook and apply the principles of food science, nutrition and healthy eating. Some of the topics covered within the 3 years are- Food, nutrition and health, Food science, Food safety, Food choice and Food provenance.

Food Preparation and Nutrition is a creative and practical subject, where students will explore the different ingredients and their properties through a range of investigations. Students will develop their investigative skills through a range of theory and practical lessons. Students will be encouraged to carry out experiments on the function of ingredients, methods of manufacture and cooking techniques. Students will develop their skills from lower school to enable them to be able to cook a broad and varied range of dishes.
