First Step Towards Our Duke of Edinburgh ExpeditionPosted on April 25th 2019
Students involved with the Duke of Edinburgh Award, on the 5th of April, had their first trials of map-reading in the great outdoors to see how they would fare. The weather was very kind to one and all, and it was a beautiful sunny day, but windy.
Students met at either Cherry Hill Nurseries or Newby depending on where they were walking. After an initial walk with staff, students were given a reminder of their map skills and how to relate to the topology. Students were then given instructions to meet at waypoints with one member of staff. Both students and staff had a highly enjoyable day with some wanting to complete the course again.
