Year 6 Open Evening 2017Posted on October 20th 2017
On October 5th staff and students welcomed Year 6 pupils from across the area to our annual Year 6 Open Evening.
The evening began with a speech from our Head Teacher Mr Mann in the Hall followed by tours of the Academy for parents, carers and Year 6 pupils. Many activities were taking place across the Academy such as a Bush Tucker Trial and pizza making in Food and Nutrition and volcanic eruptions using vinegar and baking soda in Geography.
In the English Faculty pupils were able to carry out Harry Potter themed activities whilst in Science new hair styles were created using static electricity which, according to one Year 6 pupil from Myton Park Primary school, was “the funniest sight she’d ever seen”!
In the PE Faculty pupils were able to play games and work up a real appetite for their visit to the Language Faculty where they could sample Spanish tapas with sangria, and listen to cultural music. Whilst sampling the tapas they could also enter a Spanish quiz with the opportunity of winning prizes such as lollies and stationary.
In Engineering some pupils designed then made their own key rings to take home which they thoroughly enjoyed doing.
Meanwhile throughout the evening in the Resource Centre there was a café ran by our Y11 Prefects, where visitors could relax and sample some homemade cakes and biscuits.
Here are a few quotes from the evening from Parents and Carers and some pictures from across the Academy...
"I love how the children can get involved – it isn’t just an evening for parents to see the school"
"A great school and definitely our first choice!"
"We enjoyed the Bush Tucker Trial the best...so funny"
"It was nice to see lots of All Saints students helping out who were so friendly and polite"
Overall the evening was a huge success and All Saints would like to wish all Year 6 pupils, parents and carers the best of luck in their Academy and other School applications.
