Visiting ShepherdsPosted on December 9th 2019
Shepherds were the first people to visit Jesus after he was born. Back then shepherds were viewed as outcasts and considered as less than other people.
Jesus looked out for those that society rejected and welcomed the least, the last and the lost.
In our society today there are many people on the fringes who are sometimes treated as outcasts or often forgotten. Often Christmas is a lonely time for these people.
How can we reach out to forgotten people this Advent?
“When the teachers of the law who were Pharisees saw him eating with the sinners and tax collectors, they asked his disciples: “Why does he eat with tax collectors and sinners?” On hearing this, Jesus said to them, “It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners.”
